Mickey Rivers Career Honors
In 1975, Mickey attempted to set the world record for the fastest time to circle the bases.  The record is and was 13.1 seconds.  Mickey's first, and only attempt, saw him trip at second base and finish in 14.1 seconds.  He never made another attempt for the record. In 1995, Mickey, along with Bob Watson, Frank Howard, and Charlie Hough, was elected into the Texas Baseball  Hall Of Fame.


Career Honors and Awards:
In high school Mickey lettered in baseball (2), football, basketball, and track. 

He was named to the All-Star team in the Pioneer League in 1969.

He won the Ray Winder Memorial Award as the most outstanding player of the Texas League in 1970.

Rivers was also named to the Texas League All-Star team in 1970.

In 1972 Mickey was named to the All-Star team of the Pacific Coast League.

At the Major League level Rivers led the American League in triples in 1974 (11) and in 1975 (13).

Also in 1975, he led the  American League instolen bases (70). During that same season Mickey was honored with the   Angels Owners Trophy. 

In 1976 Rivers was named to the American League All-Star team, voted New York Yankees team MVP, and finished 3rd in American League MVP voting.

In 1977 he finished 11th overall in the American League MVP balloting.

When playing with the Rangers he was selected the 1980 Texas Rangers player of the year by  the Rangers baseball writers.

He was invited back to Yankee Stadium to participate in Old Timer's Day in 1988. 

In 1995 Mick was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1999 he was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Century Team and the Florida Community College Athletic Association (FCCAA) All-Time team. 

In 2003 Mickey was named to the Pacific Coast Leauge's All-Century Team.
